I love crime novels - I find the suspense in them seductive and compelling. I am presently reading an Agatha Christie that I found that I have never read before and I am trying so hard to work out the murderer. I think good crime fiction must be so hard to write.

Training? Preparation? Planning? Forget that! Our key weapon, here, John, is SUPERSTITION. I call it "Umbrella Theory." It's a kind of variant on Murphy's Law - take an umbrella, or preferably three, any time you particularly don't want it to rain.

No, seriously, the thing is, we are relatively new at this and it took us a while to realise that there are no guarantees. The first time we hit an unexpected snag, it really threw us. Now we're more realistic. It's better that way. We take the highs when they happen and are bettering at shrugging off the lows.

Thanks for dropping in!

Goodness me, even in fiction you cannot be that cynical.
The sun may shine, the horse may excel, you may just have a wow of a time.

While I know that "luck" plays a part - training, preparation, planning and attitude take the edge off bad luck.

At least I hope so...

Aha, so this is what this dark feeling within me is called. Flawed heroine envy. Excellent. I feel much better now.
