Café du Jour
I'm going to forgive Jayne for spelling my name wrong - there's only one "l" in the middle of Lilian - because it's such a lovely review, and she really "got" the book. And the great thing about ebooks is that they don't disappear from the shelves. You can still buy Cafe du Jour by following the links at BacklistEbooks.
Here's a quote from the Dear Author review:-
"Despite your extensive list of Harlequin books, I’d never read anything by you before taking you up on your offer of “Cafe du Jour.” And when making the decision to try the book, it’s the writing that grabbed me. I felt like Susie was an old friend with whom I’d sat down for a long talk, deep into the evening as we caught up on each other’s lives since I’d last seen her."
Jayne finishes, "...from the beginning of the book, I’ve felt Susie is someone I know, someone I care about and I’m glad that, in the end, things appear to be looking up for everyone. It’s time well spent no matter how rough the going was at times.
All Dressed Up
Like Cafe du Jour, this is another book that I wrestled with for a long time before it was in the shape I wanted for it. It's a story about family secrets, about the importance of wedding gowns and other special dresses. It's about those moments in life where, emotionally, you're all dressed up but there's no place to go. The orchestra plays the music for your entrance... but something stops you from getting out on the stage for this particular act in your life. You take a breath... and you can't say the words. Again, you can click through to all major ebook purchasing outlets through BacklistEbooks.
Fictional alter ego Liz Davenport and I have had a conference about the blog. She felt I was expecting too much of her, and wanted me to hold up my end of the blogging bargain better. So now Liz only gives us a couple of days a week on her hectic, angsty life, while I step in on other days. If you're interested in horses, there's my Monday Eventing segment. If you want to think or talk about reading and writing, stop by on Book Wednesdays. On Sundays, I take part in Six Sentence Sunday, where you'll get a tantalizing morsel from one of my books each week, whether it's something I'm currently working on, or something from my rather large backlist! I'm really hoping to have a Photo Friday segment, too, but the blog isn't cooperating with that at the moment, and won't let me load most of the photos I try. We're working on that!
You can subscribe to the blog, friend me on Facebook, or follow me on Twitter, and I would love to hear from you. Seriously, you don't know how much of a lift it is to my day, anytime I get an email saying how much someone has loved one of my books. I'm so glad to have all these new ways to connect with people, and I hope you'll make use of them.
Another Trilogy from Special Edition
I've just heard from my editors that they'd love another trilogy from me this year. They're saying I could do a second McKinley Medics series - Dr Michael McKinley Sr has two younger brothers with medical connections - or I could come up with something new. Right now, I'm leaning toward something new, with a return to the McKinley family further down the track. We're at that really fun stage where there are endless possibilities and it's just a matter of seeing which idea sparks the most. You'll be hearing more about the trilogy as the year unfolds.
